News
It has been quite a while since our last newsletter and a lot has happened since then. The club continues to attract new PPL Students as well as pilots booking in for Revalidations, RT exams and of course Sea Plane Ratings.
We have had quite a few new PPL passes over the last 12 months which is great to see, so well done to all!
Hopefully the weather will improve and we can all get a good deal of flying done. Between the Seaplane flights and Pilot training it promises to be a busy few months ahead and we look forward to seeing you over the summer.
New Members:
We would like firstly to take this opportunity to welcome our new members who have joined over the last year. Some travel significant distances to train with us and we hope they will continue to enjoy their flying here at Enniskillen.
Membership Fees:
As we all continue to ride out the economic downturn and combat ever increasing costs, most of you will be aware that we have decided to waiver our membership fee for 2011 for both current and new students. We always try to keep costs as reasonable as possible for our club members.
Seaplane Festival 2011:
We are pleased to be able to confirm that the Seaplane Festival will take place in September 2011. We expect this year’s event to be bigger than the 2009 event with even more aircraft in attendance. Further details to follow soon.

Lakeland Seaplane Tours:
The most exciting news to report is that after almost 18 months of interviews, application forms, paperwork, emails, telephone calls and plenty of CAA fees we eventually overcame the hurdles and have been awarded an AOC by the CAA. G-TAFC will now be operating commercially under our new sister company, Lakeland Seaplane Tours, for commercial pleasure flights and under The Amphibious Flying Club for SES Ratings.

New Airport Cafe:
The Café has reopened under new management.
Facebook:
We have three official pages on Facebook these days. “Amphibious FlyingClub” is the public page for flying club. We also have a private Group “Amphibious Flyers” for our members to communicate with each other. If you are not a member of the group simply search for Amphibious Flyers and request to join. We have recently added a new page for Lakeland Seaplane Tours.

IMC Rating:
G-CEYG is approved for training for the IMC Rating. IMC training is carried out at the same rate as basic PPL training. Pilots who obtain an IMC rating will be grandfathered its privileges when EASA take over in 2012. It is well documented how valuable an IMC rating is to private pilots – especially in Irish weather!
